Burmese Teak Flooring

One wood which is not so common and will cost you quite a bit is Teak, but not just any kind of Teak. Burmese Teak is one of the most beautiful colors of wood, from dark golden brown too a light yellow and brown. It also has many applications including hardwood flooring.

Burmese Teak is a coarse and hard wood and has unevenness in the grain which gives it character. Cutting the wood is quite easy. It is recommended for those using it for hardwood flooring to nail it down instead of glue it.

The wood has some oils which have been a concern for those deciding to add some type of finish to the wood. Burmese Teak does have similar strength capabilities to American Red Oak but can be a bit softer.

As far as availability is concerned, this is quite an exotic wood, so the cost per foot can be quite high but it has been as low as $2.50 per square foot on rare occasions, and can be as high as $9 per square foot.

Should you get Burmese teak for hardwood flooring in your home, it would be wise to examine the wood to make the best decisions on installation and treatment before and after the install.
